Retreat The EEWC-CFT Midwest Regional Retreat will be held November 13 and 14, 2010 at Lindenwood Retreat and Conference Center in Donaldson, IN. Move closer to Spirit by sharing an informative and enriching experience with like-minded sisters in a relaxing and peaceful setting. Tenative Schedule: Saturday, November 13 Sunday, November 14 Cost: Single and double occupancy rooms are available. You are responsible for finding your own roommate!! The cost for a single occupancy room is $105. For a double occupancy room, the cost is $90 per person. This cost includes your room, the meeting rooms, the chapel on Sunday and meals - lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. GATHERING 2010 Once again the EEWC-CFT Gathering was held in Central Indiana. The EEWC-CFT Gathering was held in June of 2010 in Fishers, Indiana (just north of Indianapolis). Many special speakers and workshop presenters were on hand, all of whom were drawn from our own membership; and in addition there were special interest groups on a variety of topics, some planned in advance and others formed on the spot. One of our members called this gathering a "loaves and fishes" event in which each of us brought and shared what we had, trusting God to multiply it to the benefit of all. Carrie Newcomer is an EEWC-CFT Indiana favorite, having performed at the 2008 "A Place at the Table" EEWC-CFT gathering. With a new album out we thought we'd better put another concert on our agenda. Please join us!

I am my Sister’s Keeper: Reaching Out to Sustain Women’s Livelihoods in Developing Countries The practice of fair trade is just one avenue to establish and sustain women’s livelihoods around the world. Discover how you can be involved at any level to empower women in global markets to reach financially stability and independence. Location: 10 Thousand Villages Date: Saturday, July 18, 2009 Cost: Free Presenter: Linda Hasecke Linda Hasecke has been working on Fair Trade issues and women’s self help projects for ten years. This fall she will oversee the 9th annual Alternative Christmas Market at Trinity English Lutheran Church, downtown Fort Wayne. Each year the market includes 6 new self help global projects for shoppers to sponsor. This provides funds but also acts as an education tool regarding world issues with an emphasis on women and children. The market also includes the selling of Fair Trade handicrafts from SERRV, Ten Thousand Villages and the International Center for Bethlehem as well as coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolate and other food items from small farmers. Linda began volunteering at the local Ten Thousand Villages nearly 4 years ago. She has become an active member of the oversight committee for the store and an advocate and speaker for Fair Trade issues. In the spring of 2010 she will try a “jewelry” party event featuring three women’s organizations “Beads for Life”, an Ethiopian Bead Collective and Ten Thousand Villages items. She hopes this will be another avenue to showcase the amazing things women are doing across the world to make their lives better and to provide for their families. Peace" Norman G. Finkelstein received his doctorate in 1988 from the Department of Politics at Princeton University. For many years he taught political theory and the Israel-Palestine conflict. He is currently an independent scholar. Finkelstein is the author of five books which have been translated into more than 40 foreign editions: Beyond Chutzpah: On the misuse of anti-Semitism and the abuse of history (University of California Press, 2005; expanded paperback edition, 2008). He has just completed a new book entitled A Farewell to Israel: The coming break-up of American Zionism, to be published in 2009. EEWC-CFT Indiana Winter

A Place at the Table 2008 Walk In The Way Of Insight! A Place at the Table 2008 is the biennial conference of the Evangelical and Ecumenical Women's Caucus. Learn and grow with accepting, progressive Christians during an exciting three day conference June 27th - 29th, 2008 at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel in Downtown Indianapolis. The Divinity of Women Project explores the connection between women and spirituality and was created by New York City-based playwright and Butler alumna Zina Camblin. Directed by Gloria Bigelow. Interviews with local female religious figures about their personal experiences will provide the raw material for this performance, which will explore the role of women in religious history. As African-American artists, Zina and Gloria will become the first guest artists of color to work directly with Butler Theatre. We will meet 20 minutes before the performance at the entrace of the theater. We'll gather together afterwards for a discussion and share our views and reactions to the play. Carrie Newcomer Concert An EEWC-CFT Indiana Event! We hope you can join us as we take in the Carrie Newcomer concert, Sunday, September 11th, 4:00 pm, at North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
